Australian Young Lawyer Awards

The Australian Young Lawyer Awards is conducted annually by the Law Council of Australia's Young Lawyers' Committee and recognises excellence in young lawyers and young lawyer organisations.

Baxt Prize

The Baxt Prize will be awarded for a research paper of outstanding quality which is based on the topic of “Human Rights and Business Law”.

Consumer Rights Award

The Consumer Rights Award is presented to an individual who has made a substantial contribution to the promotion, understanding or protection of consumer rights in their practice of consumer law or in their contribution to the legal, academic or wider community.

Migration Manager John Gibson AM Award for the Young Australian Migration Lawyer of the Year

The Annual Migration Manager John Gibson AM Young Australian Migration Lawyer of the Year Award recognises excellence by young lawyers in the field of migration law in Australia or internationally.

Mahla Pearlman Award

The Mahla Pearlman Award for the Australian Young Environmental Lawyer of the Year is conducted annually by the Australian Environment and Planning Law Group of the Law Council’s Legal Practice Section.

National Golden Gavel

Each year, young lawyers test their public speaking skills and comedic genius at Golden Gavel competitions across the country.

New Superannuation Lawyer’s Award

The New Superannuation Lawyer’s Award is to encourage young lawyers who practice or research in the field of superannuation law to explore issues of significance that have a bearing on the legal framework for superannuation in Australia.

Outstanding Contribution to Immigration Law

The Outstanding Contribution to Immigration Law Award is presented at the Immigration Law Conference. It is awarded to a person who has made an exceptional and outstanding contribution to the field of migration law in Australia or internationally.

President's Award

In 2007 the Law Council introduced the Presidents Medal - an award recognising an individual for their outstanding contribution to the legal profession. In 2017, the Law Council changed the name of the President's Medal to the President's Award.

Tom Yuncken Australian Young Construction Lawyer Award

The Tom Yuncken Young Construction Lawyer Award is a national award and is conducted by the Business Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.

Victorian Young Property Lawyer of the Year

The Victorian Young Property Lawyer of the Year Award is designed to recognise and encourage the talent and achievements of young property law practitioners.
