Incentivising Charities to Join the National Redress Scheme
The submission to the Treasury in response to the Exposure Draft Bill relating to the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission Amendment (2021 Measures No. 1) Regulations 2021 (Regulation), was prepared by the Charities & Not for Profits Committee of the Legal Practice Section.
The committee opposes the Regulation for the following reasons:
(a) the Regulation is out of step with the principle-based intention of the governance standards;
(b) the Regulation may not achieve the desired outcome; and
(c) its regulatory burden outweighs the issue the Regulation seeks to address.
